School ethos on PE and school sport

A balanced progressive Physical Education (PE) programme of work should provide all children with experiences which will encourage a lifelong interest in sport and physical recreation.  PE contributes to the overall education of children by helping them to lead full and valuable lives through engaging in purposeful physical activity.

PE and school sport can contribute to the physical, academic, social, cultural, emotional, moral and spiritual development of the child.  Physical Education is the only subject that contributes to education of the whole child.  As a school we will be committed to delivering high quality PE and school sport so that we meet the needs of the whole child.

School sport achievements

All children receive a least 2 hours of physical education each week, with the extension of playground games and cyber coaching. From July 2013 all children will take part in intra school competitive activities each year and a traditional sports day. We enter a variety of inter school competitions.  We are currently the Erewash champions for Futsal, Quad kids and cricket.  We have been to county finals on several occasions for football, cricket and tag rugby.

Year 5 / 6 Football Finalists..

No. of sports clubs

A variety of clubs are offered throughout the year.  Year 1-6 are offered at least one after school club a year.  These vary and may include football, cricket, athletics, multi-skills, dance, gymnastics, cheer-leading, belly dancing or tennis.  We have over 12 school club links with differing sporting clubs and we work well to ensure that our children are directed to these clubs to enhance their sporting skills.
